No Time To Read? LISTEN In English On-The-Go!
You know I don’t know anyone that doesn’t have at least one December in their lifetime where they look back upon it and say “I’ll never forget that year.”
Whether it was that good or that bad. It earned a place in their mind and soul that has a way of visiting them again each year.
Mine is a cherished, beautiful time as a girl being taken downtown to Rich’s department store in Atlanta. Not only the buildings but all the people seemed so big to me.
I can remember holding my Mom’s hand and gazing up at her. She seemed so content with her smile … and I? Well, I was petrified as the elevator door closed us in. But when it opened up I felt like I was in a fairytale come true! 👠
Mom was telling me to look, that was the line to see Santa; where I was to meet him and tell him what I wanted for Christmas. And over here are his reindeer! They took my breath away. They were real. With beautiful bells. And they had hay bales & touches of Christmas décor all around them. (Enjoyed after Santa, who I was not shy at all about meeting). 😀
See? I had an incredible shopping savvy at a very early age. This guy in the red suit was to supply what I wanted. I had understood that much from my older brother and sister. So I was insistent with Santa that he wasn’t to make any mistake about my list. I had to have that easy-bake oven! I asked him, did he understand? Oh-my, my poor Mom! I blush😊 now when I remember it but boldness was a gift from God that I’m proud to have obtained (and kept!) Also, being the baby of the family I got away with things my siblings wouldn’t have. I think my folks were worn out from what they had been through with them by the time I came along.
But anyway, after Santa and the deers, I was put in line to ride the
Pink Pig which circled around Rich’s famous Tree.
It was tradition here in Atlanta, Ga. | The lighting of the GREAT TREE 🎄
The Pink Pig ❤️ Riding the bus and going downtown to shop for the prettiest papers, ribbons, and gifts. Everyone tried to do that. And of course, family dinners & parties, etc.
Rich’s, the Pink Pig, and so many things like that are physically gone now. But they’re still with me in memory. And I have the will and hope to create many more beautiful memories to share with anyone and everyone who wants to have a heart-warming ❤️ December.
May this month bring all of you joy, peace, new memories, and miracles that will abide with you always. And please remember the reason for the season.
Which is Christ our Lord.
